Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 June 2026

TabSnitch is a Chrome extension that shows you statistics about your own open tabs (how many you have and how long they have been open). This policy explains what data the extension touches and what it does with it.

What data TabSnitch accesses

To calculate your tab statistics, TabSnitch reads metadata about your currently open tabs: tab title, tab URL, window id, and timestamps for when the extension first and last saw each tab.

How the data is used and stored

  • All processing happens locally on your device.
  • Tab data is stored only in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local).
  • The data never leaves your device. TabSnitch has no servers, no backend, no account, and no analytics.

What TabSnitch does NOT do

  • It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data.
  • It does not send your tabs, browsing history, or any information to us or to any third party.
  • It contains no advertising and no third-party trackers.

Your control over the data

You can erase all stored data at any time using the Reset data button in the extension popup, or by removing the extension (which clears its local storage).

Permissions

  • tabs: required to read the title and URL of your open tabs so the statistics can be calculated.
  • storage: required to remember your tab data locally between sessions.
